About Sundown Stables
We've been breeding, training, and re-homing horses on this same piece of Hill Country land for over twelve years. What started as two brood mares and a lot of trial and error has turned into a small, family-run operation - my husband handles the farrier scheduling and fence repair, our daughter starts the young ones on the ground, and I do the matchmaking between horse and rider.
We're not a sales lot. Every horse that comes through here lives in our pasture, gets ridden by our own family, and gets a full workup from our vet before it's ever listed. If a horse has a quirk, a limitation, or isn't right for a beginner, we say so on the listing - not after you've driven three hours to meet them.
Our goal isn't to move horses fast. It's to place them once, correctly, with people who are prepared for what that specific horse needs.
Health guarantee & trial policy
5-day trial period.Take the horse home (or ride them here) for up to 5 days before finalizing the sale. If it isn't a fit, bring them back for a full refund minus transport costs.
48-hour vet check window.Have your own vet examine the horse within 48 hours of pickup. If they find a pre-existing soundness issue we didn't disclose, we'll take the horse back and refund you in full.
Ownership after sale.Once the trial period ends and papers transfer, the horse is yours - but we're always a phone call away if you have questions about how we managed their feeding, farrier schedule, or training.
What buyers say
“They told us about Duke's wall eye and his food-pushy streak before we ever drove out. My daughter has shown him twice now and he's never put a foot wrong.”
“Cooper came with a full list of his quirks written down - herd-bound, slow to load, great with kids anyway. Every word was true, and three years later he's still our best trail horse.”
“I called with a long list of requirements for a nervous first-time owner. They were honest that Willow wasn't ready yet and had us wait two months while she finished training. Worth it.”
